Did Upper Deck Declare War on the Internet?

For those collectors who were eager for more information or discussion on Upper Deck’s new distribution policies, The Cardboard Connection posted an interesting article as to the potential legal ramifications of Upper Deck’s decision.

As many other industries and companies have discovered, trying to control the internet is virtually impossible. Only time will tell how this attempt will unfold.

I bought a case of SP Authentic Hockey from Blowout this year and as far as I can tell from checking out eBay a large percentage of the Sign of the Times didn’t make it into the cases. I’m still waiting for 6 redemptions from this year and 2 from last years Ultimate Hockey.

So I for one applaud Upper Deck’s decision to make their product harder to get. I needed a good reason to stop buying their cards. Thank you Upper Deck!
