The premiere Stephen Strasburg card from 2010 Bowman sold for $17,000 on Wednesday evening.  His 1/1 Red autograph card that ran from July 14th to July 28th with Huggins and Scott Auctions was finally sold for real this time after the initial sale over Ebay ended with many non-legitimate bids. The Silver Spring, Maryland based company’s auction for the one-of-a-kind card opened at $9,00o.

The card was professionally graded Mint 9 by Beckett Grading Service with the following subgrades:

  • Autograph Grade: 10
  • Centering: 9.5
  • Edges: 9
  • Surface: 9
  • Corners: 8.5

The card jumped from $12,000 to $17,000 on its final day, prompting overtime in the auction. The card came up short of the highest price paid for a Strasburg card from 2010 Bowman. That claim-to-fame belongs to the Strasburg SuperFractor from 2010 Bowman which has been sold twice since it was pulled. It originally sold for $16,403 on eBay and then to Razor Entertainment’s Brian Gray for $21,403.

If you remember the hockey card boom, you remember 1990-91 Score Hockey and the king of hockey rookie cards, Eric Lindros. Everyone wanted his rookie card and only Score had it.

Panini America has released preliminary information and images for 2010-11 Score Hockey. The company’s highly anticipated product will be released in mid October. As was the case twenty years ago, Score hockey will be affordable for kids and fun for everyone.

Initially expected to be Panini’s premiere hockey release, it will now follow Panini Certified into the market. It will make its mark with a massive 550-card base set that includes 50 rookies.

In the tradition of 1990-91 Score Hockey, this version will include a little of the old (36 packs per box and throwback inserts such as The Franchise) with a lot of the new (autograph cards seeded one per case, including on-card BuyBacks from the original 1990-91 set).

Each box will contain 18 Rookie Cards, 36 Glossy inserts, 12 additional insert cards, and one Rookie Redemption card that collectors can exchange for an early card of a hot 2010-11 rookie.

2010-11 Score Hockey will be available for pre-order soon from Canada Card World.
