Upper Deck and the NHL partnered this past weekend at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft  at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. There were no major surprises as Taylor Hall was chosen first overall by the Edmonton Oilers followed by Tyler Seguin who went to the Boston Bruins. A few minor surprises saw defensemen Cam Fowler and Brandon Gormley fall from potential Top Five positions to just outside of the Top Ten.

Upper Deck had two different six-card packs available during the course of the Draft for redemption purposes. Collectors simply needed to open up three packs of any 2009-10 NHL Upper Deck product at the Upper Deck booth and they were rewarded with their choice of either six-card set. The first pack contained three current members of the L.A. Kings (Dustin Brown, Drew Doughty and Anze Kopitar), along with three current NHL superstars (Alexander Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby and John Tavares), while the second pack included three former Kings’ standouts (including Wayne Gretzky) alongside three fellow retired hockey greats (Steve Yzerman, Patrick Roy and Mario Lemieux). To add to the excitement, Kings’ Captain Dustin Brown signed autographs on oversized cards at the Upper Deck booth on Saturday.

Upper Deck also had its highly popular Personalized Trading Card (P-Card) station up for fans seeking to obtain their very own trading card. In addition, Upper Deck invited kids ages 13 and under to show off their shooting skills in the “Lucky Shot” game.

Upper Deck had several rare cards on display, along with many of Upper Deck Authenticated’s newly unveiled NHL Curve Displays, which showcase either an autographed or commemorative hockey puck positioned alongside a team or player photo.

And, most importantly, Alyssa Milano was there!

Bench Warmer International is a trading card company which produces trading cards featuring female models. The company was founded in 1992 by Brian Wallos.

Bench Warmer’s motto is “Trading Cards Never Looked So Good”. The cards feature models who are generally featured in swimsuits, wearing baseball gloves, or football helmets.

A few of the first more recognizable models featured were Baywatch actresses Cory Givens and Traci Bingham.

Most series typically consist of 100 cards. These series traditionally include 60 different model cards, complete with “stats”, biographical information on each model.

Insert cards tend to feature Authentic Bikini Swatch Cards cards with a piece of a bikini worn by Bench Warmer models. In addition to these, a certain number are signed by each model.

Over the years, models who have appeared on the wrappers and boxes throughout the years have included Jaime Bergman, Brande Roderick, Nikki Schieler and Victoria Silvstedt. Survivor winner Jenna Morasca has also been featured among the models. Wrestlers and wrestling models who have been featured include Christy Hemme, Candice Michelle, Traci Brooks, and Gail Kim.

An eBay auction featuring a bikini swatch card autographed by Cindy Margolis netted $335 in an auction.

Appearances by Playboy Playmates include:

  • Megan Hauserman
  • Tamara Witmer
  • Katie Lohmann
  • Jaime Bergman
  • Lauren Michelle Hill
  • Tina Marie Jordan
  • Brande Roderick
  • Nikki Schieler
  • Victoria Silvstedt
  • Tiffany Taylor
  • Colleen Shannon
  • Devin DeVasquez

Bench Warmer trading cards saluted the 2008 Presidential race with the addition of collectible political satire cards to its already popular 2008 product line. Taking satirical liberties with both parties, the cards feature original caricature art and caption lines.
